Festival Preparation, Church School Registration & Prayers

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

May the Lord bless you!

Festival Preparation
Join us tomorrow morning starting at 9 a.m. to clean up our grounds in advance of our parish festival (Saturday, Sept. 16 will be here before you know it!). Starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow, another group will be making pirozhki for the festival in the parish kitchen. Please also remember to sign up to volunteer for our festival here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0f4aa9ad29a57-russian1

There are lots of opportunities for good works!

Church School Meeting & Registration
We will hold an organizational meeting on Sunday after Church for our parish Church School. Parents, please be sure to attend and register your children. Spiritual Education is one of the most important activities of a parish and sharing the wisdom of the Church with our youth is extremely important. We have classes for children from Pre-K through middle school.

Let us pray to the Lord! Lord, Have Mercy!
We have already seen the massive destruction of hurricane Harvey and now hurricane Irma is wreaking havoc in the Caribbean and headed straight for Florida. We will make another special collection in support of IOCC’s relief efforts this weekend. His Eminence, Archbishop Peter, wrote a letter about our parishes in Texas: https://www.chicagodiocese.org/news_170905_1.html

Also, please pray for the newly-departed priest Mark Gilstrap. Fr. Mark was a founding member of our parish and ordained a deacon while living here. He subsequently moved to Oklahoma to begin a mission there. May the Lord grant him His Heavenly Kingdom!

Beheading of St. John the Baptist
Our services will be as usual this weekend: Confession on Saturday at 5:30 p.m., followed by Vigil at 6 p.m. and Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
We will serve vigil for the Beheading of St. John the Baptist on Sunday after lunch and liturgy on Monday at 9 a.m.

Sincerely in Christ,
priest Daniel
